How to Cook dishes from Colombia
Colombia is a South American nation.
It has borders with
Brazil,
Ecuador,
Peru, and
Venezuela, and coastlines on the
Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
Some popular and well-known Colombian dishes include:
- Ajiaco - A potato soup, typically also two or more kinds of native potatoes,
chicken on the bone, and corn on the cob. It is flavored using guasca, which is a local
herb, and gives the soup a very distinctive taste. Avocado, capers, and cream are usually
mixed in just before eating, and then served over white rice.
- Arepa - This is a corn-based bread. It can be topped
with butter, cheese, chocolate, or hogao
(a sauce made from onions and tomatoes with cumin, oregano, pepper, and salt).
- Bandeja paisa - Grilled steak, fried pork rind (chicharrón), with chorizo, egg,
red beans and rice, usually served with arepa, a slice of avocado, and sweet fried plantains.
- Sancocho - A stew based on traditions in Spanish cuisine.
The Colombian recipe contains meat, cassava, plantain, potato, and other vegetables.
